What is APID?
APID is a permanent, portable identifier assigned to every researcher who publishes with or serves on the editorial board of a CELNET or STM Journals publication. It works like an ORCID for our ecosystem — a stable ID that travels with you across journals, roles and institutions.
Why does it exist?
Academic names are ambiguous. Two researchers can share a name; one researcher can publish under several name forms across a career. APID pins an unambiguous identity to a person so that author credits, editorial appointments, and review histories are correctly attributed and permanently accessible.
What can I do with an APID?
With an APID profile you can: maintain a verified record of your publications and editorial appointments; apply to serve on the editorial board of any journal in the STM Journals portfolio; download a verified CV and empanelment letters for your institution; and be discoverable by editors looking for reviewers in your area.

APID is operated by STM Journals, a division of CELNET Publishing. STM Journals publishes peer-reviewed research across science, technology, medicine and the social sciences.
