Biography
The Okoro’s research is focused on the identification of novel biologically active small molecules that regulate the activity of specific protein targets involved in cancer and Alzheimer diseases. Our initial approach uses computational methods, such as in silico virtual screening of databases, ADME filtering, and molecular docking of hits to identify lead compounds. Next, we use organic synthesis tool to study structure-activity relationships (SAR) and optimize lead compounds for potency, safety, and selectivity. In addition, we introduce fluorine atom(s) at specific sites on the lead compound to enhance metabolic stability, ligand-protein binding, and lipophilicity.
