Biography
Dr. Dele Abdissa Keneni is an Organic Chemist from Oromia, Ethiopia, with expertise in terrestrial and marine natural products. He earned his PhD in Organic Chemistry, specializing in Natural Products Chemistry, from Rhodes University, South Africa. His doctoral research focused on the isolation and structural characterization of antibacterial and anticancer compounds from marine sponges and ascidians. With over six years of university teaching experience at Jimma University, Dr. Dele has a solid background in bioassay-guided fractionation, analytical techniques, and biomedical research. He has published the results of his MSc and PhD work, along with other collaborative research, in reputable peer-reviewed journals, accumulating over 11 scientific publications to date. He has also presented his research at various international scientific forums. Dr. Dele is a recipient of the in-region DAAD scholarship and received support from the South Africa Antibiotic Drug Discovery Hub. He is currently conducting postdoctoral research at Rhodes University, where he continues to explore collaborations in natural product-based therapeutic development.
