Biography

Prof. Ágoston Restás specializes in fighting against forest fires especially in economical analysis and the application of aerial equipment. He holds mechanical engineering, economist, and disaster manager degrees. In 2008 Restás defended his first PhD thesis, in 2013 defended his other PhD thesis, and habilitation was also passed in 2015 at the University of Public Service, Budapest, Hungary. Restás was appointed as full university professor in 2023.

Restás was a helicopter pilot in the Hungarian Air Defense, afterwards worked at the Ministry of Interior, Directorate General for Disaster Management. Restás is a professor working at the Ludovika University of Public Service, Faculty of Law Enforcement, Institute of Disaster Management, Department of Fire Protection and Rescue Operation Management. His researches focus mainly on aerial firefighting and using drone supporting law enforcement activities like police, fire service and border control but he used drones even to fight against the new coronavirus. Restás has many publications on the topic of drone applications.
