Biography
Dr. Khashti Dasila is a skilled microbiologist and biotechnologist specializing in plant-microbe interactions, microbial ecology, and environmental biotechnology. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor (AC) in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science at Uttarakhand Open University, she brings extensive research and practical expertise in the conservation of Himalayan ecosystems and the functional roles of endophytic microbes.
Her research focuses on root-associated endophytes, plant-microbe interactions, and the bioprospecting of microbial communities for plant growth promotion, secondary metabolite production, and climate resilience. With advanced training in chromatographic and molecular techniques, she has mastered the isolation, identification, and characterization of microbial endophytes and their bioactive properties, including antimicrobial, antioxidant, and biocontrol activities.
She is proficient in the physico-chemical analysis of soil, soil enzyme quantification, and tissue culture techniques. She has contributed significantly to environmental monitoring and forest biodiversity assessment under national projects. Her ability to design and execute field-based ecological surveys, floristic inventories, and laboratory assays positions her as a multidisciplinary researcher bridging microbiology, plant sciences, and biotechnology.
