Biography

R. Elayaraja is currently serving as an Assistant Professor (Junior) and Research Scholar in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, India, where he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on advanced composite materials, particularly the development of natural fiber hybrid composites reinforced with metal wire mesh architectures to enhance mechanical, dynamic, and tribological performance for sustainable engineering applications.

He completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Jayalakshmi Institute of Technology in 2017 and Master of Engineering in Computer-Aided Design from Government College of Engineering, Salem in 2019. He previously worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Mahendra Engineering College, Tiruchengode from 2019 to 2023. His research interests include composite engineering, material science, additive manufacturing, microstructural characterization, damage mechanics, fracture toughness, and design optimization of lightweight materials. He has published several research articles in SCI and Scopus indexed journals such as Results in Engineering, Engineering Research Express, Textile Research Journal, and Fibers and Polymers. He has also contributed book chapters with reputed international publishers including Springer, CRC Press, and IGI Global.
