Biography
Dr. Jai Gopal Gupta, currently serving as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering here at NIT Sikkim and hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur 2016, an M. Tech. in Non-Ferrous Metallurgy from MNIT Jaipur 2004, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from CTAE, MPUAT Udaipur 2001.
Having over 20 years of experience including teaching, research, and administrative roles. Prior to joining NIT Sikkim in March 2023, served as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department at Govt. Women Engineering College, Ajmer for over 15 years from 2007 to 2023. He has also worked as a Senior Lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Engineering College Jaipur from July 2004 to September 2007.
His primary research focuses on IC engines, alternative fuels, emissions control, and renewable energy resources. I have published extensively in high-impact international journals, including Progress in Energy and Combustion Science (IF: 35.34), Applied Energy (IF: 11.45), Energy Conversion and Management (IF: 11.53), and Wear with over 1300 citations. Dr Gupta has co-edited three research books and authored six book chapters published by Springer. Dr Gupta gained international exposure through the INDO-Korea Research Internship at Hanyang University, Seoul funded by DST India and NRF South Korea. Also, by presenting papers in international conferences such as SAE conference at Detroit, USA and ASME conference at Indiana, USA.
