Biography
I, (Dr.S.M.Fazeela Mahaboob Begum) hold a Ph.D., degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, from B.S Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology, Chennai. I am interested in exploring the marine natural products and their utilization in human health. My thrust areas of research include cell signaling pathways in cancer, diabetes, apoptosis, inflammation and tumor immunology. I hold a broad set of technical and analytical skills with strong expertise in In silico, In vitro and In vivo areas of research. I have 13 years of experience in research and teaching. I have two Indian patents filled and published and has authored 10 research articles and a book chapter in the area of evaluating the efficacy of marine bioactives in lung cancer and diabetes. I have guided and submitted 6 PG projects. I am intended to identify the molecular targets in lung cancer, and breast cancer the mechanism behind the disease and the mode of action of marine bioactives with those targets. My major focus is to explore and utilize the marine phytochemicals in the development of novel drugs or lead compounds for the management of lung cancer. Currently,I am working as Assistant Professor, School of Life Sciences BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.
