Biography

Dr. Souvik Das earned his Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Electrical Engineering (EE) from the Regional Computer Centre Institute of Information Technology (RCCIIT), West Bengal, India, [2010-2014], and his Master of Technology (M. Tech) degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) from the IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur, India [2015-2017]. He received his PhD from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur, India [2017-2023] and worked with Prof. Jhareshwar Maiti. Recently, Dr Souvik joined as a Visiting Scholar at the School of Engineering Technology, Purdue University, working with Prof. Gaurav Nanda [June 2023-Ongoing]. Prior to that, he was a Principal Research Scientist at the Center for Excellence in Safety Engineering and Analytics (CoE-SEA), Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Kharagpur, India [September 2021-May 2023] and worked with Dr O Bala Krishna. His research interests include Human Factors and Ergonomics, Safety Engineering and Analytics, Risk Assessment, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Eye Movements Analysis, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Fuzzy Set Theory. Dr Das has written several articles that have been published in well-known journals like IEEE TFS, Applied Soft Computing (Elsevier), International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics (Elsevier), Expert Systems with Applications (Elsevier) and International Journal of Intelligent Systems (Wiley) whose access can be found here.
