Biography

Dr. Neeta Lambe, an associate professor at SMMCA, Nagpur, has completed her graduation, post-graduation, and PhD studies at VNIT, Nagpur. Her doctoral research was on “Derivation of the logical framework using shape grammar for contextual Design: A case study of traditional Pol house, Ahmadabad, India. The research outcomes are in the form of guidelines for framing the recommendations for conserving the character of the heritage precincts. The entire research has been published in a book titled ‘Shape Grammar and Space Syntax Approach to Contextual Design’ by Copal Publishing Group, Ghaziabad UP, with ISBN: 978-81-957272-47.
Recipient of the MASA Best Teacher award for 2015, Dr. Neeta Lambe has published papers in International Scopus Indexed journals and national journals and presented papers at various National/International conferences.
Always keen on learning new things and innovating, Dr. Lambe has completed an Executive Program in Project Management from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur and is an active IIM Nagpur Alumni. She is also the Director of NR Project Management Services LLP, Nagpur.
She has edited the book ‘Vernacular Settlements in Chanderi: Towards Innovation and Sustenance’, a culmination of the joint studio of SMMCA with SPA, Bhopal. She was also the editor of the Proceedings of International Conference on Paradox to Paradigm and for the compilation of Thesis Works, ‘Design Perspective.’
She was instrumental in setting up the Documentation Cell, which is a nodal agency of the Heritage Conservation Committee of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. The cell is actively working in the field of heritage documentation. Being the coordinator of the Cell, she is continuously working in the field of heritage conservation and documentation. Under her leadership, the Documentation cell has carried out documentation of more than 20 heritage structures of Nagpur and completed measured drawings and condition mapping of Grade I structures like Nagpur High Court and GPO.
She also received the MASA Fellowship 2019 for her research work on the Vakataka Dynasty.
She coordinated various COA-TRC organized Teachers Training workshops on ‘Documentation of Heritage Structures’ as Convener/coordinator and Faculty Induction Programs. She was also a resource person for many workshops/training programs on Research in Architecture, Design Pedagogy, and Heritage documentation.
Presently, she is working as the dean of design of the institution, Smt. Manoramabai Mundle College of Architecture, Nagpur, has other responsibilities like Infrastructure, Library, Documentation Cell, and Mimasa Publication Cell as an in charge/coordinator.
Having more than 21 years of teaching experience and more than 27 years of professional experience, Dr. Neeta is a registered architect and is associated with many organizations, such as the Bamboo Society of India, INTACH, Heritage Conservation Committee of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, and IIA. She is on the Board of Studies of Bhartiya Gyan, Sansrit evam Yog Kendra of SNDT University, Mumbai.
Her areas of research are Heritage and Conservation, Architectural Documentation and Research, Theories in Architecture, Contextualism, and Urban Design.
