Biography
Dr. Khandoker Montasir Hassan, currently an Associate Professor of English at the Institute of Modern Languages (IML), Jagannath University, Dhaka-1100, Bangladesh, served as the Director prior to his current position. He earned his Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and ELT from the Department of English, Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Department of English, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh.
With a teaching career spanning since 2004, Dr. Hassan's expertise lies in ELT methodology, the intersection of literature and language, SLA, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics. He has a scholarly record, having published over 12 research articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals, translated a book and assumed various leadership roles, including Chair of the English Department, Member of the Academic Council and Board of Higher Studies, JnU, elected Member of the Executive Committee of JnU Teachers' Association, Assistant Proctor, and Judge for the senior category in the Commonwealth Essay Competition. His editorial contributions extend to several renowned journals, such as the International Journal of TESOL Studies, the Asian Journal of Social Science and Legal Studies, the Millennium-Journal of English Literature, Linguistics and Translation, the EDRC Journal of Learning and Teaching, and the Post-Method Pedagogy, among others.
Dr. Hassan has also been an active participant in international conferences, presenting papers on ELT-related topics at different international conferences, including BELTA (Bangladesh), NELTA Nepal, IML, Dhaka University, and the Asia TEFL – 68th TEFLIN – 5th iNELTAL International Hybrid Conference 2022 in Indonesia. In addition to his role at IML, he serves as an adjunct Faculty member at University of Dhaka, BUET, BUP (Bangladesh University of Professionals), MIST (Military Institute of Science and Technology) and Notre Dame University, Bangladesh.
