Biography
On academic front, engaging in and providing socially conscious, quality education to students in order to prepare them for different job roles in industry/academia is one major focus. In addition, I shall continue to guide and mentor students who aspire to pursue higher studies in India/abroad.
On research front, exploring the anti-cancer potential of bioactive compounds from natural sources is an area we are currently investigating; with Seabuckthorn (a high altitude shrub of the Himalayan region of Ladakh and Spiti), a microalgae Chlorella pyrenoidosa and cyanobacteria Nostoc punctiforme being the source of bioactive compounds. Studying the folding behavior of proteins, their structure-function relationship and protein-protein interactions under normal and disease conditions is another area of investigation.
